Leighton Meester and her husband Adam Brody are notoriously private when it comes to their 2-year-old daughter Arlo. As she once explained to Refinery 29: “I don’t talk about Arlo very much. I am very proud of that area of my life.” But the actress offered some insight into their family at third annual We All Play FUNdraiser on Saturday, April 28.

“I think getting out of the house is very important,” the 32-year-old star told Us Weekly. “I’ve realized more than ever that playing is how they learn and work. When they play, that’s their work. That’s their job.”

“As soon as they get up, they want to play,” Meester continued. “That’s how they grow, socialize, learn and develop.”

Meester and the The O.C. alum, 38, met while filming the 2011 movie The Oranges and secretly wed in 2014. Though the couple rarely speak about each other, when Brody was asked about married life during a 2014 Reddit chat, he replied: “I do some stuff, but she does the heavy lifting figuratively. Literally I do the heavy lifting.”

Meanwhile, Meester has a packed schedule between field trips with Arlo and her busy career.  She just filmed ABC comedy pilot with Taran Killam and Brad Garrett and her crime-thriller Semper Fi will be released in 2019. And the singer, who released her debut album “Heart Strings” in 2014, is working on music at the moment.

Of course, the actress is best known for playing Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl. While speaking with Us and other reporters on Saturday, Meester said she would be “open” to reviving her role as the Upper East Side princess in a reboot.

Gossip Girl ran on the CW and aired from 2007 to 2012. The drama also starred Blake Lively, Ed Westwick and Chace Crawford.
