In the September issue of Glamour magazine, stunning actress Olivia Wilde was photographed by Patrick Demarchelier breastfeeding her son Otis while wearing a sparkling Roberto Cavalli gown and Prada heels. She holds her newborn baby, who is nude, in her arms, and looks perfectly serene. However, feeding time is not usually quite so picturesque, Wilde confessed to a pregnant Savannah Guthrie on the Today show on Monday, Aug. 11.
“Usually he has a diaper on and I’ve never looked that good breastfeeding,” the Her star, 30, said. “I never will.”
“It’s funny, that picture grew out of a very organic moment,” Wilde explained to Guthrie, 42, who is expecting her first child this summer. “I was working, I was shooting the cover of Glamour, and I needed to feed my son Otis.”
“So he came to work and I had to feed him, and either I was gonna do it off-camera or on,” the actress added. “I thought, ‘You know what? Shoot it because this is part of my real life.'”
Wilde offers a further peek at her personal life inside the issue, holding a diapered Otis, who was born in April, and opening up about her fiancé and the father of her child, Jason Sudeikis.
She added to Guthrie that she and Sudeikis, 38, knew Otis was a boy before his birth and decided on his name, which she called “soulful,” together.
“He loved [the name] and I was happy,” she said. “I wanted to name him after Otis Redding, and I thought, ‘If you like this, we’re going to go with this,’ and he liked it!”
