Summer Roberts is a mom! Rachel Bilson and boyfriend Hayden Christensen have welcomed their first child together, Us Weekly can exclusively confirm via multiple sources.
"Hayden Christensen and Rachel Bilson welcome their daughter Briar Rose Christensen born on October 29, 2014," her rep tells Us in a statement. "Both mother and baby are healthy and doing well. They are asking for privacy and subscribe to the No Kids Policy."
The couple gave their baby girl a Disney princess-themed name — Briar Rose! The adorable moniker is a nod to the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty; sheltering Princess Aurora from Maleficent's curse, the three fairies call the little girl Briar Rose. It's also the name that was used in the original Grimm Brothers fairy tale in 1812.
Us broke the news back in May that Bilson, 33, and the Star Wars actor, also 33, were expecting a baby. "They've both talked about this for awhile and are so excited," an insider told Us. "Everyone is beyond thrilled for them."
Bilson's Hart of Dixie costar and fellow mom Jaime King gushed to Us about the mom-to-be in May. "It's a really celebratory time. I'm really thrilled and happy that she's going to be on this next journey of her life," she said at the Annenberg Space for Photography Exhibit Opening in L.A. King noted that Bilson often displayed her maternal instincts when she would play with her baby son James on set. She added: "I know she's going to be the best mother."
The O.C. alum was the guest of honor at a baby shower on Aug. 31. Guests at the private L.A. bash included family, former classmates, King, and Natalie Portman. Instead of gifts, attendees brought a birth bead to be made into a necklace. "She will use the beads for strength during labor," a source told Us.
Bilson and Christensen first met on set of the 2008 film Jumper and got engaged in December 2008. They quietly called off their engagement in August 2010, reconciling three months later. Last May, the usually private Bilson opened up about motherhood. "I definitely have family on the brain," she said to Cosmopolitan magazine. "Having kids is something I want to see in my future—I hope." The couple enjoyed an extended, month-long babymoon in Barbados in June. See pics of the glowing star during her pregnancy.
