“Today the journey begins,” Diddy, 49, began in a Monday, December 3, video posted on Twitter. In the clip titled “Day 1,” the rapper is seen chauffeuring his 11-year-old twin daughters Jessie James and D’Lila Star to school. (Diddy and Porter also shared son, Christian, 20.)

“Thank you all for your prayers and support. I’m now a part of the 6 a.m. crew,” the Grammy winner explained. “This is mommy-slash Daddy, Daddy-slash-Mommy checking in.”

Diddy then explained the term to his more than 15 million followers. “When you all hear me say ‘Daddy/Mommy,’ all my single mothers they know what that is, even some single fathers. Guys step up and play both roles. Mothers do it all the time.”

Despite the tragedy, however, the record producer — formerly known as Puff Daddy, P. Diddy and Puffy — called his new life “beautiful” and then gushed “I love it.” But there is one downside. “You have to get up early in the morning,” Diddy revealed. “Like real early, like early.”

Later on Monday, Diddy took to Instagram Stories to share his workout at Runyon Canyon, a popular hiking destination in Los Angeles. “Man, definitely give all glory to God for just waking me up this morning, my kids having the strength to go to school,” he mused. “One step at a time, one step at a time.”

Porter died at her L.A. home at the age of 47 on November 15. Nine days later, Diddy delivered an emotional eulogy at her funeral in Columbus, Georgia. The former couple dated on and off from 1994 to 2007 but remained close.

“She was my friend first. She was my confidante,” he said at Porter’s funeral, per audio obtained by TMZ. “She was like my guidance, still is.” Later he told the crowd, “We didn’t plan for this. I definitely thought I was going to go first. God didn’t have it be that way.”

A source previously told Us Weekly that Diddy was “inconsolable” over Porter’s passing. The cause of her death has not been established.

Diddy is also dad of Chance 12, and Justin, 24, from previous relationships.
