Simon Cowell Calls Himself the Last “Iconic Bachelor,” Talks Fatherhood

Simon Cowell with son
Simon Cowell spoke about being a father.

As far as Simon Cowell is concerned, he is the last of a dying breed.

"I'm the only iconic bachelor left in the entire world," Cowell, 55, reportedly told HELLO! magazine. "Thanks for that, George Clooney!"

Referencing Clooney's star-studded September wedding to Amal Alamuddin, the American Idol alum sees himself as a final holdout. While he isn't single — his girlfriend is Lauren Silverman — Cowell is still without a ring on his finger.

"I think it's a title I'll keep for a while longer if I'm honest," he told HELLO! "I've never said no to marriage but then again I couldn't imagine having a kid at one point and now look at me."

Cowell and Silverman, 37, welcomed their first child together this past February. The birth of baby Eric, 8 months, followed a dramatic time for Silverman. She went through a divorce last year after her then-husband Andrew Silverman filed papers, citing adultery and naming Cowell. The TV personality said after his son's birth that he is not proud of the affair, but expressed joy in his new role as a father.

"I guess I was always nervous I may not end up getting on particularly well with the person I was going to have a kid with and I didn't want to make the wrong decision," he told HELLO! "The fact is, our baby wasn't planned [and] was actually the best thing for us to have done and we're very happy now."

Cowell added that he will be even happier in the future, as he has big milestones he is looking forward to with his son. "I want to fast-forward a few years so I can take him go-karting and then introduce him to women," he said. "There are a few years to go yet."
