Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley are the geniuses behind the hilarious YouTube channel “IMOMSoHard.” With videos about squeezing into Spanx and the nightmare that is swimsuit season, the comedians have a devoted fan base that includes Jennifer Garner. But Nebraska-natives Hensley and Smedley aren’t only funny in videos as evidenced by their Instagram account.
The duo posted a Costco shopping list on Sunday, July 22, and while it’s meant to be a joke — it’s pretty accurate. Wine is the first item, followed by a “50lb bag of trail mix that will never get eaten.” But it only gets better. “Box of chicken nuggets 6′ too wide for my freezer,” “Big ass bag of spinach that turns to green water,” “Tent?” and “Magnum of Head n Shoulders for my bae.”
Within minutes, other parents began chiming in with tales of shopping in bulk. “We went into Costco for toilet paper and cashews and came out with a lawn mower and a 4’ fountain,” wrote one person. Added another: “Giant boxes of cereal that takes up half your pantry, and your kid only eats half through of it before you hear ‘I don’t like this cereal anymore.’”
A third noted in the comments that her kids love the samples in the store and “SWEAR they will eat it every day . . . but suddenly tastes yucky at home.
Meanwhile, it should come as no surprise that “wine” appears twice on the Hensley and Smedley’s list. As Hensley — mother of two — told the City Moms Blog in August 2017: “You know drinking wine is like a ritual. It’s a signal that you can relax, take a breath, and things are going to be OK.”
