As a hard-working mom of four, Victoria Beckham (whose husband is soccer star David Beckham) isn’t afraid to admit that even she gets tripped up every now and then with her parenting duties.
Recounting to Vanity Fair the time she left her L.A. home to drive her son Brooklyn, 13, to school — without Brooklyn in tow — Victoria, who is also mom to sons Romeo, 9, and Cruz, 7, and daughter Harper, 9 months, admits that it wasn’t her finest mommy moment.
“I jump in my Range Rover, put the car seat in, put my iPod on — obviously very important — and I drive to school. And then I realize, I’d left Brooklyn in the kitchen,” the star, who recently unveiled the $90,000 Range Rover Evoque Special Edition she helped design, explained. “I was driving along, talking away, and all the sudden, I looked at the front seat, and I was like, ‘S***! S***! I’ve forgot something!”
The 38-year-old fashion designer, who shows her latest collections seasonally, was particularly rushed that morning because, “I knew that I had a whole morning full of conference calls. Every morning I take Brooklyn, and David takes the little boys to school. We take it in turns because they go to two different schools.”
She continued, “I’d gotten down the road, and I literally had to turn around and drive back up the driveway. And David was standing there in the driveway with all three boys. And I felt like such an idiot because I was in such a rush. Harper was in the car, I was in the car, and we were on the way to school. But we did not have the child who needed to go to school.”
