Surprise! The crowd at WE Day U.K. 2019 was in for a treat when Prince Harry brought his pregnant wife, Duchess Meghan, on stage unexpectedly.
The Duke of Sussex, 34, joined celebrities including Nicole Scherzinger, Naomi Campbell and Liam Payne at the charity event, which encouraged young people to get involved in world issues, in London on Wednesday, March 6. The royal stood in front of the crowd and announced, “I’m now going to try and drag my wife on stage,” before he walked to the stairs and helped the Suits alum (née Markle) make an appearance.
Meghan, 37, held onto her husband’s hand as they walked across the stage to address the audience once again. While the Duchess of Sussex did nothing more than wave, Harry added: “Guys, I am with you and we are with you. Get to work!”
Prior to Meghan’s appearance, Harry made a powerful speech about the importance of positivity. ”Every day you are inundated with an overexposure of advertising and mainstream media, social media and endless comparisons distorting the truth and trying to manipulate the power of positive thinking,” he asserted. “But you don’t let them sway you because you don’t need to hide behind your device to share your voice.”
He continued: “Because you don’t need to hide behind your device to share your voice. You confidently voice your opinions because you can embrace them proudly. As my wife often reminds me with one of her favorite quotes by Martin Luther King Jr., ‘Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.'”
