Justin Bieber Dodges Water Bottle After Refusing to Sing ‘Despacito’ at Stockholm Concert

It might be time for Justin Bieber to brush up on his Español! The Sorry singer, who appears as a featured vocalist on the hit reggaeton remix of Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito,” was pelted with a water bottle during a concert after admitting he didn’t know the words to the tune.

The often controversial pop star was performing at the Summerburst Festival in Stockholm (weekend of June 10-11) when he disappointed eager fans who begged the 23-year-old to perform the smash hit.

“I can’t do ‘Despacito,'” Bieber explained to the crowd. “I don’t even know it.”

Bieber’s refusal prompted a fan to hurl a water bottle from the crowd, narrowly missing his head. But Bieber handled the incident like a pro.

“Don’t throw things at me, please,” he gently asked before continuing with the show.

This isn’t Bieber’s first “Despacito” mishap.

On May 23, the Biebs made headlines when he butchered the lyrics to the Spanish influenced Billboard Hot 100 song at nightclub 1 Oak in New York City. Concertgoers looked on in disbelief as the Purpose artist swapped song lyrics with “I don’t know the words, so I say poquito/ I don’t know the words, so I say Dorito.”

Fans were quick to react on social media. “OMG!” and “how disrespectful” were just a few of the comments that flooded a video of the performance uploaded to YouTube.

A more forgiving Belieber added: “it’s OK he’ll get it next time.”

Also in Bieber’s corner is “Despacito” collaborator Fonsi.

“That chorus is not easy to sing, even for fluent Spanish singers like myself,” Fonsi explained to Rolling Stone in an interview published June 1. “It’s got a lot of lyrics, it’s kind of tongue-twisty … I’ve done songs in other languages. I know how hard it is.”
