Oops! Most stars tirelessly try to perfect their outfits before stepping out on the red carpet, but sometimes luck just isn’t on their side. Ahead of the 87th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 22, take a look back at some of the most cringe-worthy slip ups, wardrobe malfunctions, and more from over the years.
1. Jennifer Lawrence
The Hunger Games star gracefully fell before accepting the award for Best Actress for her work in Silver Linings Playbook at the 2013 Oscars. “You guys are just standing up because you feel bad that I fell,” the Dior-clad actress said. “It’s really embarrassing.”
2. Tara Reid
The American Pie alum had a serious celebrity nip slip when she bared her entire breast at Diddy’s 35th birthday bash in 2004. After several seconds, a publicist finally assisted the actress and pulled up her strap.
3. Sacha Baron Cohen
No he didn’t! The actor dressed as his General character to promote his film The Dictator during the 2012 Oscars. While talking to Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet, he spilled the alleged ashes of North Korea’s late Kim Jong-il all over the American Idol host’s Burberry tux.
4. Jennifer Lopez
The Boy Next Door actress and singer appeared to suffer a nip slip while presenting on stage with Cameron Diaz at the 2012 Oscars. She wore a revealing custom Zuhair Murad couture gown at the time.
5. Lady Gaga
The “Applause” singer’s sheer lace top slipped down a little too low while she attended the CFDA Awards in NYC in June 2011, exposing both of her breasts.
6. J. Law (Round Two!)
The American Hustle star face-planted into her best friend Laura Simpson while walking the Oscars red carpet in 2014. Clad in a red Dior dress, she tripped on a cone and grabbed Simpson’s back outside L.A.’s Dolby Theatre.
7. Jennifer Garner
That was close! Ben Affleck’s wife tripped on stage before presented at the 2006 Oscars. After laughing off the embarrassing moment, she quipped: “I do my own stunts.”
