Adele won’t be seeing Rihanna this summer, but it’s only because of work, work, work! Adele joked on stage at the O2 in London during her 6-night residency that she won’t be attending Rihanna’s June concert because she might accidentally get stoned from all the marijuana in the air and damage her vocal chords.
The two superstars have gigs in the U.K. just a day apart, with Rihanna playing at Wembley Stadium on Friday, June 24, and Adele headlining Glastonbury Festival on Saturday, June 25.
“I love her,” Adele said of the 28-year-old “Work" singer. “I’m thinking of going to Coventry to watch Rihanna because she’s playing Wembley the day before I play Glastonbury, and if I go to that, I’ll have no voice, I know it. All that weed in the air — I’ll get stoned.”

“But I love her, honestly, all of that new album I love. I gotta try and see her,” the “Hello” songstress, 27, continued.
While the “When We Were Young" crooner might have been joking, she’s had problems with her voice in the past and takes extra precautions to preserve her incredible vocals. She toured the U.S. in 2011 but had to cancel several shows and get surgery to repair her vocal chords. “If I decide to go on a 200-date world tour, it would happen again,” Adele told 60 Minutes in 2012. The 25 hitmaker scaled back this time around and is currently on her 104-date arena world tour.
