Alec Baldwin Apologizes For Alleged Gay Slur, MSNBC Show Suspended

Alec Baldwin's MSNBC talk show, Up Late With Alec Baldwin, has been suspended after the actor allegedly directed a gay slur at a paparazzo this week

Alec Baldwin hasn't had the greatest week. The 30 Rock alum's MSNBC talk show has been suspended following the release of a video showing the actor allegedly directing an anti-gay slur at a paparazzo in NYC on Thursday, Nov. 14. The decision to yank the broadcast also comes just one day after actress Genevieve Sabourin was found guilty of stalking the actor and sentenced to six months in jail.

Shortly after the suspension of his show Up Late With Alec Baldwin, the star, 55, apologized for his behavior in a statement on his MSNBC page.

"I would like to address the comments I made this past week," he wrote. "I did not intend to hurt or offend anyone with my choice of words, but clearly I have – and for that I am deeply sorry. Words are important. I understand that, and will choose mine with great care going forward. What I said and did this week, as I was trying to protect my family, was offensive and unacceptable. Behavior like this undermines hard-fought rights that I vigorously support. I understand 'Up Late' will be taken off the schedule for tonight and next week."

He continued: "I want to apologize to my loyal fans and to my colleagues at msnbc – both for my actions and for distracting from their good work. Again, please accept my apology."

In September, Baldwin landed the new gig just two weeks after the actor and his wife, Hilaria Thomas Baldwin, welcomed their first child together on Aug. 23, Carmen Gabriela. The series premiered in October, and aired at 10 p.m. on Fridays.
