Amber Heard is accusing Johnny Depp of stalling their divorce by requiring her to sign non-disclosure agreements before he provides his financial information, new court documents filed by the actress on Tuesday, July 26, reveal.
“[Depp] and his counsel's demand for the execution of these two non-disclosure agreements which impose undue financial hardships and burdens on [Heard] are nothing but blatant threats by [Depp] and are illustrative of his continued attempts to thwart real progress in this case," documents obtained by Us Weekly read. “[Depp] has been stonewalling the progress of this case, by refusing to provide the most basic financial documents, and he is now filing his second ex parte on the same discovery issue coupled with a second request to continue court-ordered deadlines related to the DVRO hearing.”
Heard’s filing comes in response to Depp’s July 15 request to keep their divorce proceeding private. In documents obtained by Us, the actor’s lawyers request “all documents produced by [Depp] in this action and/or any third parties subpoenaed in this action … shall be designated as ‘Confidential Information’ herein.”
Depp’s non-disclosure agreement request came after Heard asked for financial and personal information from the Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 53.
“Johnny does not dispute that Amber is entitled to the majority of the information sought in her discovery requests and subpoena,” the filing from the actor’s legal team stated. “He is willing to produce the documents necessary … He has asked, however, that a confidentially agreement be executed prior to the production of documents in order to protect the parties’ privacy.”
In the Oscar-nominated star’s July 15 filing, his legal team claimed that Heard, 30, "has inexplicably refused to sign any agreement to maintain confidentiality in this action,” and that "Johnny is therefore asking the Court to issue a protective order.”
In Heard’s new filing, however, her lawyers deny that Heard is avoiding scheduling a deposition, but note that she has work in London and can only be in Los Angeles on weekends, when Depp’s attorney allegedly won’t work. The actress’ legal team also noted in the filing that she has “proposed many dates for her deposition.”
“[Heard] is coopering in full because she wishes to be transparent and has nothing to hide,” the actress’ July 26 filing reads.
According to the documents, the exes did participate in a six-hour-long voluntary settlement conference with a judge on Monday, July 25, but “did not reach a resolution of all matters."
As previously reported by Us, the Danish Girl actress filed a restraining order against the Edward Scissorhands star days after filing for divorce this past May, and claimed that Depp abused her throughout their 15-month marriage.
Depp’s lawyer Laura Wasser has denied the allegations of abuse on his behalf.
