Wedded bliss? After almost 10 years together, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt finally became husband and wife this past August, but the Unbroken director said in a new interview that life as a married couple is not always easy and bright.
"Maintaining a marriage and raising kids is hard work," Jolie, 39, told The Australian Women's Weekly. "[Pitt and I] work really hard at nurturing our family to make sure that everybody is alright and everyone stays connected."
The Maleficent star wed her leading man, 51, in France, tying the knot at their Chateau Miraval estate in an intimate, secret ceremony. They found time for the wedding in their busy schedules, right before she started promoting her sophomore directorial effort and he began press for his new war drama Fury.
"You have to really make sure that your work doesn’t get in the way," Jolie added. "That you don’t do something that is going to put too much strain on your family."
The two stars, who fell in love in 2005 on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, exchanged vows in front of their six children. They are the parents to son Maddox, 13, son Pax, 11, daughter Zahara, 9, daughter Shiloh, 9, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 6.
"They're six of the funniest people we have ever met in our lives," Jolie said of her brood. "We love being home and we love being around them because they are just so entertaining."
