Prince George is rolling up his onesie sleeves! The rest of the world may be going gaga over the new royal baby Princess Charlotte, but Anna Kendrick is less than impressed. The Pitch Perfect 2 actress explained why during a Late Night appearance on Thursday, May 14.
“I don’t know why anybody cares about the royal baby. It’s a baby,” Kendrick, 29, told host Seth Meyers. “It hasn’t done anything. It hasn’t achieved anything. It was just born.”
It’s fair to assume that Kendrick wasn’t glued to the news when Kate Middleton and Prince William welcomed their baby girl on Saturday, May 2, inside the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital in London. But the actress was actually in town! At the time, Kendrick and her Barden Bellas were promoting Pitch Perfect 2.
“Americans care a little bit, but when I was in England, it was like the city had gone crazy. There were all these flags up and there were people baking special cakes at lunch to have in celebration of the royal baby,” she explained. “I was like, ‘The baby doesn’t know you’re doing that! The baby doesn’t care!’ And the baby was on a full page of the Daily Mail.”
But oh, no, she didn’t end there! Kendrick got even more riled up, and dropped the biggest bomb of them all: “It just looks like every baby!” she exclaimed. “All babies look like sacks of potatoes!”
