Always here for support! Country superstar Ashley Monroe dropped by Us Weekly’s New York City headquarters on Tuesday, July 28, to dish about her new album, The Blade. But first, the blonde stunner set the record straight: What was up with Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton’s post-split Twitter exchange!?
“When I saw the tweets I was like, ‘Oh my gosh!’ Then I was thinking, ‘This puts me in the middle and I don’t know what’s happening!'” Monroe, 28, joked to Us. “But it took a not-so-fun situation and put the attention on me! I loved it.”
Monroe is BFFs with Lambert, 31, and the Voice coach, 39, and has sung backup vocals for both. Days after the couple finalized their divorce, they surprised fans by exchanging tweets to support Monroe’s new music.
“Blake is one of my best friends and so is she,” Monroe told Us. “So they both love me so much.”
Indeed, Lambert even joined Monroe on stage at her album release bash at Nashville’s The Basement on July 22, shortly after announcing that her four-year marriage was over. Lambert had no plans to sing, but got the urge to rock out mid-show.
“It was spontaneous!” Monroe recalled of her Pistol Annies bandmate. “It’s such a deep sister bond that I’m learning you don’t really have with that many people in life. You start to appreciate those true friendships and Miranda is that to me. And I’m that to her.”
She added: “We’re gonna stick together. I always say we are gonna be rocking when we are 90 and she’ll have a shotgun in her hand. We’ll ride off in the sunset together.”
