It's a complicated time for Avril Lavigne right now. The "Let Me Go" singer, 30, is suffering from undisclosed health issues.
Lavigne's struggles were first publicized through a fan account on Twitter. The handle "Avril Lavigne Charts" shared a screenshot of a direct message conversation, in which the alternative pop star shares that she has not been feeling her best.
In the conversation, which a rep for Lavigne confirmed as authentic to Us Weekly, the fan writes, "Hey Av! It's been like two years since you completed your last album. Are you in the studio right now or working for something?… We were worried about you."
Lavigne responded the next day, giving an explanation for her absence.
"I feel bad because I haven't been able to say anything to the fans to let them [know] why I've been absent," the "Complicated" singer wrote. "I'm not feeling well. I'm having some health issues. So please keep me in your prayers."
After the follower offered words of support and wrote that Lavigne's fans miss her, she wrote, "Thank you… I miss you guys too."
While Lavigne has yet to comment publicly on her what's ailing her, she did respond to a tweet from the same account reading, "#GetWellSoonAvril #PrayForAvril."
"Thank you," the wife to Chad Kroeger wrote simply, adding an angel emoji to her words.
The "Sk8er Boi" performer released her last studio album, the self-titled Avril Lavigne, in November 2013. In the months after, she toured in support of the project, hitting cities worldwide for packed shows. Lavigne continued the concert sets as recently as August, playing in Japan, but has largely kept out of the public eye in recent weeks.
