The 42-year-old actor, who announced plans to divorce wife Jennifer Garner back in June, looked handsome and put together in a blue suit, still wearing his wedding band, as he joined his buddy Damon for the event at Los Angeles' Ace Hotel theater — his first public appearance since his nanny-dating scandal.
Affleck, who has been making continual headlines since his divorce announcement and Us Weekly's subsequent revelations of his romance with nanny Christine Ouzounian, let Damon take the lead at Monday night's event, keeping red carpet chat short and sweet. But the Batman star did stop to pose for photos with fans and to sign autographs before heading into the screening.
"He was all smiles," an observer told Us of the love-troubled actor. "He was looking very much the movie star, he's still got the superhero body."
While Affleck is unsurprisingly reluctant to talk about his personal life, Damon insisted his pal is doing well.
"He's got a big smile on his face tonight," Damon told reporters on the red carpet adding that he was sending his high-profile best buddy good wishes for his forthcoming birthday on Saturday, Aug. 15.
"I wish him well you know, but he's 43," he joked with reporters. "It's not 40. It's not 45. It's like 43. You know it's a forgettable birthday. I don't even remember my 43rd birthday!"
Affleck also let Damon do most of the talking once inside the venue, just adding a few words to his pal's screening introduction inside the Ace, and took off shortly after his official duties were done.
Season 4 of Project Greenlight premieres on Sept. 13.
