A new chapter. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner shared a quiet moment together during their Bahamas getaway with their children. After announcing their split on June 30, the estranged couple were photographed sitting on a beach step outside their Baker's Bay private resort on July 3.
The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice actor, 42, and Garner, 43, appeared to be having a serious conversation and didn't touch during the interaction. Affleck, still wearing his wedding ring, wore a white top and shorts, while a makeup-free Garner wore leggings and a red tank top.
"Ben was picking strands of grass out of the ground and he had a hard time looking at Jen. He was rubbing his eyes and seemed very upset," an onlooker told Us. "They sat there for about two minutes in complete silence. Then they said a few words but looked away again." The eyewitness noted that Affleck left a few hours later with two suitcases.
The pair confirmed to Us Weekly late last month that they are divorcing after 10 years of marriage. They spent a few days away with kids Violet, 9, Seraphina, 6, and Samuel, 3, but went back to work this week. (Affleck arrived to the Bahamas on June 28. Garner landed on June 29, their 10th wedding anniversary.)
As previously reported, Affleck jetted to L.A. on July 3, two days before Garner left for Atlanta to film Miracles From Heaven. One source told Us he was going back for a work meeting, while another said he went "to cool off for a few days."
"Ben is doing some work there as well," a source told Us. "But he is mostly going to be with the kids while Jen works."
A second insider noted: "Ben is distraught over the divorce and is having a very hard time. He doesn't have a lot of close friends to lean on right now, and Jennifer has always been the one he goes to."
The Oscar winner is staying in Garner's temporary guest house. Up next, he's set to do a Batman panel at San Diego's Comic Con on July 11, and will sign autographs at the Warner Bros. booth.
