Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner reunited for the actor’s 43rd birthday over the weekend, when they took their three kids to Disney World in Orlando, Fla., on Sunday, Aug. 16. The estranged spouses were even spotted riding on Dumbo the Flying Elephant together.
“This was all he wanted to do for his birthday, go to Disney World with his family and that included Jen,” a source tells Us Weekly. “They planned this and all went to Orlando together."
Another insider says Garner put on a happy face for Violet, 9, Seraphina, 6, and Samuel, 3. ”It was clear they were together for the kids and putting up a united front," the observer tells Us.
The family of five was guided around the whimsical theme park by several managers, tour guides, and a security guard. They were also joined by Affleck's mom, Christine.
The actor was snapped in a black T-shirt and a low-key black baseball cap. Garner, meanwhile, sported printed frames and left her blonde tresses pulled back. Both parents of three wore their wedding bands.
Another eyewitness tells Us that Garner and Affleck interacted at Dumbo after Samuel got upset and started crying. The source says Affleck's consolation skills were impressive, and Samuel stopped crying after everyone rode Dumbo — as a family.
"They didn't outwardly appear to be having a ton of fun," the eyewitness tells Us. "But they weren't rushing around, and kept telling the kids they would do whatever they wanted."
Things haven't been ideal between Garner and Affleck since they announced their split to Us on June 30.
Us broke the news last month that Affleck was dating their former nanny Christine Ouzounian. (His rep, meanwhile, has denied "all allegations of a romantic relationship" between the actor and the Arizona State University communications grad as "baseless and untrue.") A day after Us revealed the nanny story on July 29, a source close to Garner said that the actress was "disgusted."
"She hasn't been responding to his texts either," the insider told Us at the time. "She refuses to speak to him about anything other than the kids and has shut him out."
But an Affleck pal now tells Us, “They’re actually on good terms and truly are keeping the peace for the kids."
