Ben Affleck isn’t dwelling on his divorce. The Oscar winner is set to make his first post-split appearance at Comic-Con in San Diego with the rest of the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice cast, sources confirm to Us Weekly.
The Argo star, who portrays the Caped Crusader, and Jennifer Garner announced in a joint statement to Us yesterday that they’re divorcing after 10 years of marriage.
According to Deadline, Affleck, along with costars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, and Gal Gadot, will bring a sneak peek of the highly anticipated 2016 flick on July 11.
Affleck spent the last year beefing up for the DC Comics role.
“Ben provides an interesting counterbalance to Henry’s Superman,” director Zack Snyder explained of his sequel to Cavill’s Man of Steel. “He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne.”
During happier times, Garner told Kelly Ripa during an appearance on Live! With Kelly and Michael her now-ex had only “eight percent body fat” while filming.
“He looks pretty good,” she gushed in October 2014. “It’s a little bit like, ‘Whoa! Who are you?’ It feels like I’m having an affair. But I don’t mind, I’m not complaining! It’s fine.”
Prior to announcing their split, Affleck and Garner had been in couples therapy for years, a source previously told Us.
“They were going to divorce when Sam was born but you know how it is — baby comes and solves the issues for a bit but it’s just a Band-Aid,” the insider explained. “It hasn’t been working for ages.”
