Oh, Blake! Blake Shelton made fellow Voice coach — and new girlfriend — Gwen Stefani blush on Monday, Nov. 16, when he made reference to Drake’s “Hotline Bling” hit as a “booty call” song.
“I don’t think there’s ever been a more elegant and classy performance of a song about a booty call in the history of music,” Shelton told contestant Amy Vachal after she performed a sultry, acoustic version of the hit. “I mean that was like, unbelievable. I hear that song on the radio every day. That song’s so big even I have heard it.”
The 39-year-old country crooner couldn’t resist a tongue-in-cheek remark about another sexy cover of the song — Stefani’s.
“Gwen sang it to me on the Tonight Show one night, so…” he joked as Stefani, 46, blushed a few chairs down.
The pair did a fun duet of Drake’s hit on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon back in October, before they went public with their romance. They confirmed their relationship just hours before the Country Music Association Awards earlier this month.
Fellow Voice coach Pharrell Williams couldn’t help laughing at the awkwardness as the crowd went wild.
“Okay, this is your moment…Wow,” he managed to get out between chuckles.
“Definitely better than the version we did on Fallon, for sure, 100 percent,” Stefani said, trying to steer the attention back to Vachal.
