Brad Pitt hasn’t seen his six children since estranged wife Angelina Jolie filed for divorce Monday, September 19, multiple sources confirm to Us Weekly. And the 52-year-old actor, who is currently under investigation by the FBI for alleged child abuse, is hoping to see them as soon as possible.
“He knows the severity of the allegations and wants to be cleared of abuse before he sees them,” an insider tells Us of Pitt. “He is confident he will be cleared. The kids are asking to see Brad, so he is hoping to see them next week.”
A second source adds, “He’s so torn up and shattered, not only because of the divorce but because he hasn’t seen the kids and he really wants to. Being apart from them is part of why he’s so torn up.”
As Us Weekly previously reported, Jolie filed divorce papers, citing irreconcilable differences, late Monday night after two years of marriage and 12 years together. She is seeking sole physical custody of the pair’s six kids, Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8.
Shortly after the shocking news of Brangelina’s split broke, a source told Us the Oscar-winning actress’ surprise decision “was made only one week ago.”
Days later, the FBI began investigating Pitt for alleged child abuse following an incident that occurred on a flight to L.A. days prior to the divorce filing. Multiple insiders exclusively told Us that the dad of six was caught on video “looking drunk” and “yelling” at his family as their private jet flew from France to California on September 14.
Jolie (whose rep released a statement saying the divorce “decision was made for the health of the family”) is currently staying in a rented house in Los Angeles with her six children.
