Coming clean. Bristol Palin broke her silence on the status of her relationship on Tuesday, May 26, just a little more than a week after she called off her wedding to Dakota Meyer.
Sarah Palin's eldest daughter, 24, was scheduled to exchange vows with her marine love on May 23, but cancelled her plans for the Memorial Day weekend nuptials just days before. She kept her explanation vague, citing "trust in God's timing" and a desire to "wait a while and having things fall into place."
The Dancing With the Stars alum hinted at a different romantic future in her first words since she announced the wedding was not taking place, penning an emotional blog on religious website Patheos.
"I feel like I need to address the elephant-in-the-room on this blog, since you guys have been with me through thick and thin," Bristol wrote on an entry titled "The Wedding That Didn't Happen" on Tuesday. "When I first got engaged, you were the first ones I wanted to tell."
"I guess you have seen by now that the wedding — that was supposed to happen last weekend — was called off," continued the reality star, who announced her engagement to Meyer just two months ago. "I'm sure you've seen this has been all over the media, but this is a painful time for family and friends and I would just really appreciate your prayers."
"I know God’s plan is greater than anything else, and Tripp and I are in Alaska beginning to rebuild our lives under much different circumstances than we anticipated," she added, mentioning the 6-year-old son that she shares with ex Levi Johnston. "Thank you for all of your love and support."
Bristol linked to the blog post on her official Facebook account, adding with a frowning emoji, "Sorry it's taken me so long to talk about this… It's been hard."
