Britney Spears is speaking out after she was spotted lounging atop a car’s sunroof as the driver moved down the 101 Freeway near Studio City, California.

“What people see is two seconds of insanity of me arching me to the lords !!!!!” Spears, 44, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, July 11. “Yet the days and hours of my reality !!!!!! Nothing is what it seems. Psss, I think I need to come out of the roof quite a bit more.”

Spears was photographed lounging on a black SUV as it cruised down the highway on Thursday, July 9, in pics obtained by The Daily Mail. Spears, who appeared unfazed in the snaps, soon raised eyebrows about her well-being months after her DUI arrest.

Us Weekly confirmed in March that Spears was arrested for driving under the influence. According to 911 audio, Spears’ car had been driving “in and out of lanes” and speeding. The call operator also noted that the vehicle was “erratic[ly] braking, swerving and driving with no tail light.”

Spears was released from police custody on bail within hours of her arrest.

“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” a spokesperson for Spears told Us in a statement after her release. “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life.”

The rep continued, “Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue, needed plan to set her up for success for well-being.”

Spears voluntarily checked into a rehab facility the following month and ahead of her May court hearing. The “Circus” singer pleaded guilty to a lesser charge known as “wet reckless driving” in exchange for the dismissal of her misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

“Through her plea today, Britney has accepted responsibility for her conduct,” Spears’ lawyer, Michael Goldstein, told Us in a statement. “She has taken significant steps to implement positive change which is clearly reflected in the Ventura County District Attorney’s decision to reduce the charge in this case and dismiss the DUI. Britney appreciates this discretion and is also grateful for the outpouring of support she has received.”

Spears was sentenced to 12 months of probation and was ordered to complete a DUI class and pay $571 in state-mandated fines and fees. She also must set weekly meetings with a psychologist once a week and bimonthly sessions with a psychiatrist.
