Bruce Jenner is facing a wrongful death lawsuit by Kim Howe’s stepchildren, a source confirms to Us Weekly. Howe died after Jenner slammed into her car and sent her into oncoming traffic on Malibu’s PCH this past February.

According to TMZ, however, Howe, who has no living direct relatives following her husband’s 2003 death, did not have a relationship with the stepchildren filing the lawsuit. Despite being estranged, the two stepchildren are entitled to file a wrongful death lawsuit under California law.

The estranged stepchildren, who are reportedly attempting to gather evidence to prove that they had a relationship with Howe, will not have access to her property. TMZ reports Howe had a trust with millions in assets that will be given to various charities.

Following Howe’s death, Jenner released a statement to Us Weekly, extending his “heartfelt and deepest sympathies”

"It is a devastating tragedy and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time,” his statement read. “I am praying for them. I will continue to cooperate in every way possible."

Howe lived in the same Calabasas neighborhood as Jenner for years.
