Busy Philipps hilariously clapped back at rumors she is “living on borrowed time” after revealing she underwent brain surgery to remove a tumor earlier this year.
“Guys, my publicist just sent me this,” Philipps, 47, said via an Instagram video on Thursday, August 27, sharing an email she received inquiring about her health. “Um, the Globe, such a reputable organization, is going to run a story that I am living on borrowed time.”
Philipps turned to the camera, firing back, “To that I say, ‘Aren’t we all motherf***ers?”
The Dawson’s Creek alum laughed loudly over the outrageous idea, before getting serious again.
“But really, like, this is insane,” Philipps said. “I don’t know if you wanted to reach out to respond directly to the email. It’s right there, at the bottom. I mean, I’m not going to.”
The actress, who shared her diagnosis publicly earlier this week, pointed out that her doctors “spoke to People magazine” about her health journey and yet the Globe planned to “run an article that I’m living on borrowed time, and that some people who have brain tumors don’t live five years.”
Philipps explained that while that fact is “true” for some patients, she insisted, “It’s not what my journey is but …”
She concluded with a jab directed at the publication, saying, “OK, Globe, go f*** yourself.”
Philipps captioned the blunt video with another pointed message, writing, “When you think about it, aren’t we all living on borrowed time????🤔.”
Hours later, Philipps shared a text exchange between her and daughter Birdie, 17, in which she once again denied her grade 2 oligodendroglioma diagnosis — which resulted in two successful surgeries to remove the tumor — was a death sentence.
“Someone on Insta asked how long you have to live,” Birdie texted her mom, according to the Instagram Story screen shot.
Philipps responded, “F***. Lol that’s insane.”
Birdie, who Philipps shares with ex-husband Marc Silverstein, replied, “They think you’re dying queen.”
The actress laughed off the rumor, telling her eldest child, “Well won’t they be pleasantly surprised.” (Philipps also shares daughter Cricket, 13, with her ex.)
Philipps’ clapbacks came after she opened up to People on Wednesday, August 26, about her recent health scare, admitting, “I’m grateful that I’m alive.”
The Cougar Town alum revealed that in February, a Prenuvo full-body scan found the presence of a grade 2 oligodendroglioma, a rare slow-growing tumor.
The following month, Philipps underwent a procedure to remove a 2.6-centimeter mass from her brain.
The Girls5Eva star noted that while the surgery was a success, she faced a setback in April when she contracted staphylococcus on her incision and needed a follow-up surgery to clear the wound.
Luckily, the second procedure did the trick and Philipps is on the mend.
“What am I? The luckiest girl in the world?” she added, noting that she will continue to get regular scans to monitor a potential recurrence.
Following her announcement, Philipps reassured her followers via Instagram that she is “already recovered.”
“You all have literally watched me recover since March 2, you just didn’t know it! I AM TOTALLY FINE! YAY MEDICINE!” she added on Tuesday.
