The family battle continues. The body of the late Casey Kasem is reportedly missing, his daughter Kerri Kasem claims. The legendary radio host of American Top 40 died at the age of 82 last month.
"We are not surprised," Kerri told CNN. "We expected something like this to happen." Kerri's publicist Danny Deraney claimed that Casey's wife, their stepmother Jean Kasem, removed her husband's body from a funeral home in Washington state. (It was reported earlier this month that Casey's body still had not been buried.)
Jean Kasem, for her part, denied the allegations. "It's not," she told CNN. "Would you leave us to grieve in peace?"
Casey's wife and children have been fighting for control over the icon's care for years. It began last year when Casey's three adult children with his first wife Linda Myers—Mike, Julie and Kerri—claimed Jean prevented them from seeing their ailing father.
Kerri and Jean fought in court, with Kerri eventually given conservatorship over her father. The following month, Jean removed her husband from a health care facility in Santa Monica and traveled to a family friend's home in Washington. Kerri arrived at the residence on June 1 with an ambulance. Jean responded by throwing a piece of raw meat at her stepdaughter.
