Chris Brown is having none of these awards show shenanigans. The Royalty singer went on a Twitter rant Friday, January 29, about the upcoming Grammy Awards, and he let his feelings be known.

“#GRAMMY? This is probably the main reason I love being free to create any kind of music I want,” he began. “Too many people kiss ass and work less.”

In a since-deleted tweet, he continued on with his complaints.

“If u turn on ya radio right now I promise within the hour you will hear Chris Brown on damn near half the songs I’ve co-written,” he tweeted. “The awards used to mean something. Now it’s about likes, and memes.”

The “Loyal” singer, 26, is nominated for one award this year, for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, on the track “Only” by Nicki Minaj featuring Drake, Lil Wayne and Brown himself.

He released his album Royalty late last year in honor of his daughter, but failed to receive any nominations for it.

Brown did acknowledge to his followers, however, that he’ll continue to make music despite a system he disagrees with.

“I’m thankful to my fans, I am able to be the best artist I can without having to conform to the ways of my peers,” he added. “I also need my commission.”

The singer has previously been nominated for 15 Grammy awards, and took home the award for best R&B album in 2012, for F.A.M.E. (Brown has a complicated history with the Grammys, having assaulted then-girlfriend Rihanna the night of the 2009 ceremony.)
