Leave it to these songbirds to stir up rumors of love — or something like it. Longtime friends Chris Martin and Kylie Minogue caused quite a buzz when they were spotted on a late-night stroll together through London in the early hours of Sunday, June 21.
But a spokesman for the Australian pop princess tells Us that the moonlit meandering was nothing more than a jaunt between pals.
“They have been friends for years and Chris came to see Kylie’s show,” he said. “That’s it! They are definitely not dating.”
Earlier in the evening, Minogue, 47, performed at the British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park, donning an impressive crown made of red roses and oversized jewels.
The musical pair later kept it casual for their friendly stroll through the city. Minogue and the Coldplay frontman, 38, made their way down Bridge Road, around Parliament Square, and down Birdcage Walk before disappearing into St. James’s Park. They were reportedly arm in arm and looked to be enjoying each other’s company.
Minogue was most recently linked to Spanish model Andres Velencoso, though the couple called it quits in 2013 after five years together. Prior to that relationship, she also had several high-profile romances, including Olivier Martinez, James Gooding, Michael Hutchence, and actor Jason Donovan.
Martin, who split from wife Gwyneth Paltrow last March, has been spotted out and about with other attractive A-listers in recent months. In March, he and pal Kate Hudson spent the day at a Malibu beach with their kids. And in April, he and on-again, off-again girlfriend Jennifer Lawrence spent Easter weekend together in NYC.
“It was an affectionate and romantic date for Chris and Jen,” an eyewitness at Tavern On the Green, where the pair had a romantic brunch, told Us at the time, adding that they “were whispering to each other and giggling” throughout the meal.
The “Fix You” singer and the Goop founder, 42, have remained on good terms since their “conscious uncoupling,” however. The exes, who share kids Apple, 11, and Moses, 9, spent Valentine’s Day together and even jetted off on a family vacation to Costa Careyes, Mexico, just one week after Martin’s rendezvous with Lawrence, 24.
“We’ve worked really f—ing hard to get to [this] point,” she told Marie Claire earlier this year. “But we’re very, very close, and it’s so nice. I feel like it’s, in a way, the relationship we were meant to have.”
