In this case, imitation really is the sincerest form of flattery. Christie Brinkley took to Twitter on Sunday, Nov. 1, to praise Jessica Simpson‘s Halloween costume this year, a send-up of Brinkley’s bombshell role in the 1983 classic comedy National Lampoon’s Vacation.
Simpson, 35, and her hunky husband, Eric Johnson, paid homage to the movie by dressing up as Brinkley’s and Chevy Chase‘s characters in the film. As fans no doubt remember, the supermodel had a memorable turn as the gorgeous blonde in the red Ferrari who goes skinny-dipping with Chase’s Clark Griswold, a married father of two.
The singer-turned-fashion-mogul posted a photo of her costume via Instagram, which Brinkley later regrammed on her own account.
“How cute is this?” the former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue cover girl, now 61, wrote alongside the repost. “Our National Lampoon was lampooned to PERFECTION! You guys look Hot and Hilarious!!!”
Indeed, Simpson sizzled in her skimpy getup, which consisted of little more than a men’s white dress shirt belted at the waist. Her blonde hair was teased to look like Brinkley’s, and she showed off her shapely legs in sky-high heels.
Her hubby, meanwhile, was a dead ringer for the Griswold patriarch in dark jeans, a purple polo, and a khaki Members Only jacket. The former NFL pro, 36, also sported Griswold’s red glasses and side-parted hairdo.
