Kylie Jenner landed the cover of Forbes magazine’s new “Self-Made Women” issue, but not everyone agreed with the declaration — including Dictionary.com.

“Self-made means having succeeded in life unaided,” the website tweeted on Wednesday, July 11. “Used in a sentence: Forbes says that Kylie Jenner is a self-made woman.”

The post tweet quickly amassed thousands of retweets and likes as several Twitter users echoed similar sentiments. “calling kylie jenner a ‘self-made billionaire’ is like claiming you made soup from scratch because you opened a can and reheated it,” one critic wrote. Referencing the unique name of Cardi B’s newborn daughter, another user tweeted, “Calling Kylie Jenner self made is like saying cardi b spelled ‘kulture’ right.”

Many of the 20-year-old makeup mogul’s fans came to her defense. “I’m just laughing at all these people hating on Kylie Jenner cause they say she’s not ‘self-made’ I mean you can claim that, but I promise you couldn’t make $900 million even if you started in the same situation as her,” one person tweeted. Another wrote, “Y’all can say what y’all want about Kylie Jenner but she about her mf business.”

According to the Forbes story, Jenner’s Kylie Cosmetics line has sold more than $630 million worth of makeup since it launched in 2016, including an estimated $330 million in 2017 alone. The magazine valued the company (which has just seven full-time and five part-time employees) at nearly $800 million, noting that the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star owns 100 percent of it. She is worth approximately $900 million when factoring in her TV shows and endorsements. In comparison, Forbes estimated that Jenner’s mega-successful sister Kim Kardashian is worth $350 million.
