Step aside, Khaleesi. Long before Game of Thrones and How to Train Your Dragon, Disney made pet dragons trendy in 1977 with its animated movie Pete’s Dragon, and the studio is bringing back the beloved flick in its upcoming remake.
Disney released a trailer for the movie on Sunday, February 21. It opens with someone scurrying through an enchanted forest, and a wild, young, Tarzan-like boy, Pete (Oakes Fegley), scrambling up the branches of a tree.
“You don’t survive in a forest for six years . . . alone,” Robert Redford (Mr. Meacham) tells his forest-ranger daughter Bryce Dallas Howard (Grace Meacham).
“He says he wasn’t alone,” Grace replies.
The final scene ends with the little boy free-falling off the side of a mountain and a dragon zooming past him to catch him during the fall.
Dallas Howard opened up to Us Weekly and other reporters at the Jurassic World press conference last June about working with Fegley on the fantasy flick.
“I can’t get away from reptiles. They were amazing,” the actress joked. “So I have only had incredible experiences working with children. I almost prefer them to the adults. Just because the enthusiasm comes from such a genuine place, and actually, I shouldn’t joke about that, because I worked with pretty much universally awesome grownups. But there’s something magical when you’re working with a kid, playing pretend. And so I really enjoyed that.”
Watch the teaser above. The film hits theaters on August 12, 2016.
