Donald Trump Says He Will ‘Totally’ Accept the Election Results — Under One Condition

No, Donald Trump hasn’t had a change of heart. The Republican presidential nominee told supporters at a rally in Ohio on Thursday, October 20, that he’ll accept the election results next month under one condition — if he wins.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I want to make a major announcement today. I would like to promise and pledge to all of my voters and supporters and to all of the people of the United States that I will totally accept the results of this great and historic presidential election — if I win,” the businessman, 70, said.

His remarks come just hours after he refused to say during the final debate in Las Vegas on Wednesday that he’d accept the election’s results no matter what the outcome. Trump has been alleging that the election is rigged.

During the rally on Thursday, Trump explained that he finds being asked to accept the results ahead of November 8 unfair.

“In effect, I’m being asked to waive centuries of legal precedent designed to protect the voters,” Trump told his supporters. “Of course I would accept a clear election result, but I would reserve my right to contest or file a legal challenge, in the case of a questionable result.”

The former Apprentice host — who called his opponent Hillary Clinton a “nasty woman” during the debate Wednesday night — also argued during the rally that Clinton, 68, should drop out of the race amid WikiLeak’s most recent release of documents that suggested the former secretary of state was aware of the town hall question that was asked by DNC chairman Donna Brazile.

“That’s cheating,” Trump said. “Hillary Clinton is the most corrupt and dishonest person ever to seek the office of the presidency.”
