President Donald Trump Says Don Jr.’s Ex-Fiancee Kimberly Guilfoyle Wasn’t ‘Family’ After Resignation

President Donald Trump is downplaying his relationship with son Don Jr.’s ex-fiancee — the former Ambassador to Greece — Kimberly Guilfoyle as she faces misconduct allegations.

“No, she wasn’t a member of my family. She, I guess, dated my son a long time ago,” Trump, 80, told reporters on Tuesday, October 13. “She went to Greece. She was doing a good job, but we didn’t like what we were reading.”

Don Jr. did more than just date Guilfoyle, 57. The duo got engaged in 2020 but later split at the end of 2025. (The pair were friends for many years before they started dating in 2018.)

Guilfoyle has had a front-row seat to many of the current commander-in-chief’s major events, including November 2024’s Decision Night. She also spoke at a number of MAGA campaign rallies before being confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the U.S. Ambassador to Greece in September 2025.

The media personality stepped down from her position on Tuesday after the White House called for her resignation.

“My gratitude and respect for President Trump and Secretary [Marco] Rubio remain unwavering. I am proud of what we accomplished together, and I will always be a loyal supporter of President Trump and his mission to Make America Great Again,” Guilfoyle wrote via X on Tuesday. “While my time as Ambassador may be coming to an end, my commitment to President Trump, the America First movement and the country I love will never end.”

Guilfoyle made headlines earlier this month when The Wall Street Journal reported that she had asked Trump donor Eric Deters to pay off a $100,000 American Express bill shortly before her July 2025 Senate confirmation hearing.

“She was so desperate for that $100,000. It was a quid pro quo,” Deters claimed to NBC News on October 8. “She said I could ask her for anything and everything in Trump world. There was no request too big.”

When announcing her resignation, Guilfoyle addressed the allegations directly.

“These allegations are false, and I intend to vigorously defend my name, my reputation and my integrity,” she wrote via X. “I have dedicated my professional life to fighting for justice, standing up for what is right and defending the values that make America exceptional. I will not allow false accusations to define my decades of public service.

Guilfoyle’s attorney, Jesse Binnall, also previously claimed his client had been paid to speak at events before her nomination and “was owed a balance for traveling to and supporting these patriotic events.”

While her latest title was cut short, Guilfoyle said she remains proud of the work she was able to accomplish. She also expressed her support for Trump’s agenda as America prepares to vote in the midterm elections on November 3.

“Serving as the United States Ambassador to Greece has been the honor of a lifetime,” she wrote via X. “I will forever be grateful to President Donald J. Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for entrusting me with the extraordinary privilege of representing the greatest country in the history of the world.”
