Donald Trump Jr.’s ex-fiancée, and current U.S. Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle is under investigation after she allegedly urged a supporter of her ex’s father, President Donald Trump, to pay off her $100,000 credit card debt.

According to a Saturday, October 10, report from NBC News, citing two people “familiar with the matter,” the State Department’s Office of the Inspector General is investigating both Guilfoyle, 57, and the office she leads after Eric Deters — a longtime supporter of and significant financial donor to the president, 80 — accused the former Fox News personality of offering him an alleged “quick pro quo.” (The Daily Mail was the first to report the news.)

“She was so desperate for that $100,000. It was a quid pro quo,” Deters told NBC News in a Thursday, October 8, interview. “She said I could ask her for anything and everything in Trump world. There was no request too big.” Deters reportedly provided the news organization with PDF documents of alleged texts and Signal messages between the donor and Guilfoyle, backing his claims. (The Wall Street Journal first reported on the documents on Wednesday, October 7.)

Deters claims that, for months, Guilfoyle was allegedly offering to use her influence as the president’s son’s former fiancée to help Deters grab the “attention” of the Trump administration on what the Wall Street Journal described as “personal tax and legal issues.”

Per the outlet, as she was lobbying the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) chief “on his behalf” she allegedly demanded he pay her $100,000 towards her credit card.

“Honey please I need you to get this done for me today,” she allegedly texted Deters, per the documents obtained by the outlets. “You just send it here.”

Another reported message shows Guilfoyle allegedly telling Deters it was best to wire the money directly to her American Express account because “it won’t show up anywhere.” He claims he never sent her the allegedly requested funds.

Us has reached out to the State Department, the White House, the U.S. Embassy & Consulate in Greece and a legal representative for Guilfoyle for comment regarding the allegations and reported investigation but did not hear back at the time of publication.

Vice President JD Vance commented on the alleged quid pro quo on Friday, October 9, telling reporters the claims are mere “accusations” from “one person’s story” despite the alleged physical evidence of Guilfoyle and Deters’ correspondence.

“Let’s actually see what the facts are,” he said, per NBC News, adding that “we don’t try people in the court of public opinion.”

“Let’s see what the truth is, and obviously if there was something bad that happened, then people have to suffer the consequences for it,” he continued.

Us confirmed back in December 2025 that Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle called off their 2020 engagement. (The pair were friends for many years before they started dating in 2018. Trump Jr. confirmed the engagement at his sister Tiffany Trump’s 2022 wedding to Michael Boulos.)

“Don and Kimberly broke up before the election and started to divide assets around the end of September,” a source exclusively told Us at the time, adding that the pair “never discussed” their breakup publicly to avoid detracting from other “important issues.”

Trump Jr. moved on with his now-wife, Bettina Anderson. Guilfoyle was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the U.S. Ambassador to Greece on September 18, 2025.
