One of the best ways to get over a breakup: hang with the girls! Yes, even if one of those girls is Dylan Penn hanging out with dad Sean Penn‘s ex-fiancee, Charlize Theron. “She’s the best,” model Dylan, 24, told Us Weekly on Thursday, July 16, at Amazon’s Summer Soiree in L.A.
Dylan has long admired the South African beauty, 39, who had dated Dylan and brother Hopper’s dad since December 2013. “Well, she’s brilliant for one thing,” the model mused to Us in October 2014, “and she’s the only woman since my mom [Robin Wright] who can shut my dad up. The only woman! That is a f—ing challenge so… She’s a powerhouse.”
Even after the couple’s May split, Dylan holds her dad’s ex in high regard. “She’s hilarious. She’s very bold, in the best way,” Dylan told Us.
To recover from his breakup, Sean, 54, threw himself into work. “He just went back to South Africa [to do] reshoots for his movie that he did a couple months back,” Dylan said of her father, hard at work on The Last Face. “His life is this movie. I’ve seen pieces of it, and it’s a masterpiece.” (Theron costars with Javier Bardem in the drama.)
At Thursday’s event, Dylan also had high praise for her mom, Robin Wright, who snagged a Lead Actress Emmy nomination for House of Cards earlier that day. “She deserves it. I haven’t even talked to her today. I tried to reach her, and she’s always busy,” Dylan said. “She’s either directing and acting or… House of Cards takes up her life. So maybe [I’ll congratulate her] tomorrow.”
