Late for a very important date! Eddie Redmayne and his wife Hannah Bagshawe exchanged vows last month, but the bride almost didn’t make it in time to say “I do.”
Redmayne spilled on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday, Jan. 8, that his love was late to their wedding — a move that did not shock him.
“My wife — it sounds so amazing just after you get married, even the terms sound new — she has never been on time for anything in her life,” the Theory of Everything star, 33, began of Bagshawe. “She was a good half-hour late. Her grandfather had to be sort of held back from going and summoning her. Everyone else was really stressed, but I was kind of relaxed knowing that she’d never been on time for pretty much anything in her life.”
The Golden Globe-nominated actor told Ellen DeGeneres that he took extra precautions to account for Bagshawe’s expected tardiness on the couple’s big day.
“My job was to find the venue, and I made sure I found the place where we were having the reception was next to the chapel,” explained Redmayne, who married his publicist love at the Babington House in Somerset, England on Dec. 15. “When she didn’t turn up on time I could go, ‘Wait! You’re coming!'”
The lovebirds, who have been together for three years, jetted off after their wedding for a romantic mountain honeymoon.
“We went skiing over Christmas,” he told DeGeneres of his celebratory trip with Bagshawe. “We went to the Alps, which was such a beautiful idea, but unfortunately there was no snow. But that was just an excuse to take long lunches, drink a lot of red wine, and have a lot of fondue.”
