Elizabeth Chambers and Marissa Hermer Reveal 1 Off-Limits Topic About Sex, Dating After Divorce (Exclusive)

Elizabeth Chambers and Marissa Hermer won’t discuss one specific thing about their dating lives post-divorce.

“The only thing that matters is our kids,” Chambers, 44, exclusively told Us on Tuesday, September 1 while promoting her and Hermer’s “The Dash” podcast with Lemonada Media. “Obviously, divorce in of itself is trauma. We don’t inflict any more of that, but also like we want them to be themselves.”

Chambers was previously married to Armie Hammer from 2010 to 2023. The exes share two children, daughter Harper and son Ford. Hermer, for her part, shares sons Max and Jake as well as daughter Sadie with ex Matt Hermer.

“I think when you have that deep connection with your kids, you usually don’t want to be unhinged or inappropriate. But at the same time, like for me and the way that I frame it to my children, it’s like it’s feminism, right?” Chambers continued. “For so long, people, men, the patriarchy have not wanted us to claim this and not need them necessarily, or treat them like they’ve treated [us]. But Marissa has a different thing. I think the biggest thing is just protecting our kids at all costs.”

Chambers added that her and Marissa’s shared objective is to not “embarrass” or “offend” their children.

“All that in the context of like they know who we are at our core and they know how much we love them and such a deep connection with our kids,” she continued. “They know that we what we stand for, and they know that like what we’re saying is because, in my words, f*** the patriarchy. But Marissa is more diplomatic about that.”

Marissa added that she and Chambers are “aligned” on that standpoint.

“I am 44. I still, at 44, do not like to think about my parents having sex. I don’t think any child, no matter what age you are, because you’re always a child to your parents, want to think about that they will ever have sex now,” the Ladies of London alum told Us on Tuesday. “But the truth is, the reason why I’m even here on this earth is because they have at one point. So I’ve had that conversation with my children.”

Marissa explained that she sat down with her children and told them that her and Chambers’ new podcast is not something they’ll be interested in tuning into.

“Guys, this podcast is not for you. You are not the audience. You are not a middle-aged woman. So No. 1, you really shouldn’t listen to it. But on the off chance that you do, because it’s not behind a paywall, let me tell you, you will hear about things. I’m never going to cause you anything that’s going to cause you childhood trauma. However, you might hear me say I’ve had sex, and that’s going to gross you out. So if you want to get totally grossed out,’” she recalled of the conversation with her kids. “And they’re like, ‘Ew,’ and I’m like, ‘Well, that’s the reason why you’re here is because I have had sex at least once for you.’”

Chambers and Marissa have teamed up to launch their “The Dash” podcast. The women will have candid conversations about dating, divorce, motherhood and modern life in their new weekly video and audio series.

“It really originated with Elizabeth, but Elizabeth came to me, and she had the idea already incubating that she was going to do it herself, and then a sort of advisor of hers said, ‘You need to have a friend to talk, and well, it’s not a you story.’ You recreated, you brought this to my team,” Marissa said of how the idea came to be. “I get to hang out with Elizabeth once a week, you know, for a couple hours and just talk.”

Chambers added that she was excited to get Marissa involved because they’re both going through similar life stages.

“We just f***ing like crash out and burn together in the best way possible, and like the most authentic way,” she told Us. “Because life is too boring and too, be worried about what anyone is thinking.”
