Actress Elizabeth Pena, who is known for her roles in La Bamba, Lone Star, The Incredibles, and Rush Hour, has passed away at the age of 55, her rep confirms to Us Weekly.

Pena died after a brief illness. In a statement from El Rey, the network tells Us: "We are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and colleague, Elizabeth Pena. She was a role model, a truly extraordinary performer and an inspiration in every sense of the word."

Pena had recently completed work on El Rey's Matador.

In addition to starring in multiple films, the actress also starred as a Latin American housekeeper in '80s sitcom I Married Dora. Pena also portrayed Sofia Vergara's character Gloria's mom on Modern Family.

Pena is survived by her husband, Hans Rolla, as well as her daughter Fiona, her son Kaelan, and her mother and sister.
