Skye Drynan, founder and CEO of House of Skye™ and inventor of the SexyBack™ Bra, is a true inspiration. An entrepreneur with a background in Wall Street and biotech, Skye is on a mission to help women find their inner strength and confidence. Her catchphrase, “Pow Her,” challenges women to take control of their own stories and create their own paths.
Skye believes women need to stop living in “His Story” and start writing their own “Her Story.” “It’s important for women, especially female entrepreneurs, to blaze their own trails and just go for it,” she says.
The businesswoman says she’s powered by her supportive family, especially her father and grandparents, who always encouraged her to shoot for the stars. But ultimately, “believing in myself is the ultimate master key,” Skye says.
Skye’s journey hasn’t been without challenges. After a cardiac health scare in her early thirties, she had a phoenix-rising moment. “It really made me think what kind of fingerprint I want to leave on the world.” It also gave her perspective and deepened her determination to live with purpose and gratitude. “Every day I am blessed just to be alive,” she shares.
For young women starting out, Skye has some practical tips and tricks. For example, when she first started public speaking, she would get so nervous her leg would twitch; after practicing in front of a mirror, she overcame her nerves and improved. “Be prepared, and think of questions people might ask,” she suggests, “but don’t be afraid to admit what you don’t know.”
“I know people say fake it until you make it, but I don’t agree with that,” Skye says. “Living with authenticity and integrity is super important and I think people respect that.”
