Honduran influencer Freddy Rodríguez has reportedly died and his body found on a remote roadside in Danlí, Honduras. He was 34.
Authorities discovered Rodríguez’s body on April 26, according to reports from local outlets El Heraldo and Tu Nota. The body reportedly contained signs that it had been burned, but investigators believe the influencer was killed prior to the burning, noting that the brush surrounding the area where he was found also appeared to have been burned.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office could not confirm the body was Rodríguez’s until Friday, May 1, due to the severity of the burns, according to the reports.
An investigation into Rodríguez’s death is underway, but no suspects have been identified or arrested at the time of publication, the outlets noted.
Rodríguez, known as “Rosado” to friends and family, developed a following of over 1,000 users on TikTok, where he shared fitness content and inspirational messages.
Fans paid tribute to Rodríguez via social media after his death.
“Oh, young man, may strength be with the family and may Freddy rest in peace,” one user wrote on a report of the influencer’s death, while another person added, “I knew him since he was a child; he was so kind and polite. His passing hurts me deeply.”
“Peace to his soul 🕊️🙏🏽 Strength to his family 🙏🏽,” a third fan commented.
Rodríguez is one of several influencers who have tragically died this year. On April 27, Indian influencer Nagalakshmi and her husband, Subramani, were both found dead in their home after a suspected murder-suicide. They were 41 and 51, respectively.
Local outlets The Hindu and Times of India reported that Nagalakshmi and Subramani’s 18-year-old son returned to their home in Nanganallur, India, where he found his mother stabbed to death and his father deceased in another room. Authorities reportedly believe that Subramani murdered his wife and then died by suicide. They are also reportedly investigating a possible third person’s involvement, as the door to the home was open when their son arrived.
Nagalakshmi was known for promoting her online sari business via social media.
Earlier last month, Finnish hiking influencer Ali Leiniö was found dead in the Lapland wilderness, according to Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat. Leiniö, who had more than 88,000 followers on YouTube, reportedly died of a seizure.
Fitness influencer Mara Flávia, Brazilian influencer Carlos Filhar and Japanese influencer Zepa also died in April. Dominika “Mina” Elischerova, Wang Weiqian and Aysegul Eraslan died in March.
