Taking turns. Gavin Rossdale opened up about coparenting his three sons with ex-wife Gwen Stefani in a new interview. The Bush rocker, 51, told Entertainment Tonight that his former spouse, 47, will be spending the holidays with their boys, Kingston, 10, Zuma, 8, and Apollo, 2, while he will be busy working.
“It’s not my year [to have the kids], so I’ll be in London doing [The Voice U.K.], because I’m a coach,” Rossdale told ET at A Place Called Home Gala in Los Angeles on Thursday, November 17. “I commute. When I don’t have my kids, I go to London.”
Even though he won’t be celebrating Christmas with his children, the musician is encouraging them to give back this holiday season. According to Rossdale, he is hoping his boys lend a helping hand to A Place Called Home, an organization that aims to provide at-risk youth with a secure, positive family environment.
“It’s a fantastic charity. I’m looking forward to getting my children involved in some of the things they’re doing over Christmas,” he told ET. “Because, you know, for all of us who are lucky enough to have made these lives for ourselves, our children don’t get the perspective that maybe we grew up with.”
Rossdale added, “So organizations like this, who do such great work for the inner cities — South Central L.A. — my kids need to know about that stuff, so that’s why I’m here.”
As previously reported, the “Glycerine” crooner and the No Doubt frontwoman — who is now dating Blake Shelton — split in August 2015 after nearly 13 years of marriage. Us Weekly broke the news of Rossdale’s affair with the former couple’s nanny Mindy Mann last year.
Back in April, Rossdale and Stefani finalized their divorce and neither asked for child or spousal support. According to documents signed off by an L.A. judge, the pair share joint custody of their kids.
