B and G for life! Former E! News host Giuliana Rancic revealed in a new interview that she isn’t authorized to discuss Kathy Griffin‘s acrimonious departure from Fashion Police. However, her husband, Bill Rancic, can share his sentiments — if he wants.
Giuliana, 41, who stepped down in July from her post as co-host of E! News after 14 years on the job, dodged questions with the New York Daily News at a breast cancer awareness gala about Griffin’s hasty exit from Fashion Police in March after only seven episodes.
“I can’t comment on that,” Giuliana told the paper, as she supposedly “motioned at her hubby.” The fashionista added: “I can’t say it. He can.”
According to the NYDN, her entrepreneur hubby, 44, gave a “universally recognized look that says, ‘Hell, yes!'”
Griffin, 54, famously released a detailed statement at the time about why she didn’t think she was a fit for Fashion Police. “I do not want to use my comedy to contribute to a culture of unattainable perfectionism and intolerance towards difference,” Griffin said in an extended Twitter post. The comedienne also directly called out Rancic for her joke about Zendaya‘s Oscars look that incited incredible backlash from the Internet.
“I wouldn’t have said the joke in the first place,” Griffin told the Chicago Sun Times in March. “Always go for the laugh, be as inappropriate as possible, but also change with the times.”
At the time, Us Weekly reported other exclusive inside details about Griffin’s close relationship with Kelly Osbourne, who departed from Fashion Police after she called out Rancic for her comments.
This wasn’t the only tension Rancic faced in the last year at E! In July, the network’s parent company, NBCUniversal, announced that Maria Menounos was replacing her. It was subsequently reported that the two were embroiled in a feud over the departure itself — but Menounos claimed that she went about it the right way.
“When I was being sought after by E!, I made it very clear to them that I didn’t want to be coming over to take somebody’s job,” Menounos, 37, told Redbook in its October 2015 issue. “And I was assured that wasn’t the case.”
Rancic also addressed that incident — sort of — with the NYDN. When the interviewer suggested that her new gig on HSN was a refreshing change from hosting E! News, her husband replied: “From your mouth to God’s ear!”
“Stop saying that! You’re so bad!” Giuliana laughed as she teased Bill. “Bottom line: It’s just really nice to be doing what I’m very passionate about.”
Duke’s mom, however, continues to remain at E! as one of the co-hosts of Fashion Police. She also hosts red carpet interviews at awards shows alongside fellow TV personality superstar Ryan Seacrest.
