Full disclosure: Henry Cavill once got an erection while shooting a sex scene. The Man From U.N.C.L.E actor opened up to Men’s Fitness in a recent interview, and among his many confessions was his admission that he once got a bit too excited on set.

“It’s only happened to me once, and it was very embarrassing,” he said in the interview. “A girl had to be on top of me, she had spectacular breasts, and I hadn’t rearranged my — stuff into a harmless position. She’s basically rubbing herself all over me and, um, it got a bit hard.”

The scene in question took place while Cavill was filming for Showtime’s hit The Tudors.

Cavill, 32, was ever the gentleman, however, and apologized “profusely” to the actress for his involuntary arousal.

“It’s not great when you’re in a professional acting environment and somebody gets a boner, is it?” he asked rhetorically. “No, not acceptable.”

And it’s not as though sex scenes are all that sexy to begin with, he added.

“It’s actually acutely uncomfortable being naked in a roomful of people,” he said. “The very last thing it is is sexy. The actual physicality is very uncomfortable. All you’re doing is smacking your nuts against someone, and nothing is going in.”

The Englishman became a household name with his big screen role as Clark Kent in 2013’s Man of Steel after stints on television, most memorably The Tudors, as well as smaller roles on Immortals, Tristan + Isolde, and Stardust.

He will next star in upcoming The Man From U.N.C.L.E., due out later this year.
