May many more wishes come true! Weeks after tying the knot, Ian Somerhalder celebrated his wife Nikki Reed‘s birthday on Monday, May 18, with a sweet and sentimental post shared on his Instagram account.
“Happy Birthday my love,” the Vampire Diaries hunk wrote, alongside a black and white photo of Reed closing her eyes and making a wish while Somerhalder holds up a candlelit cupcake. The Twilight actress, who turned 27 years old on May 17, smiles to herself as she conjures up her wish, while her doting husband looks up adoringly at her from below.
“Me and the world celebrate you,” Somerhalder, 36, continued in the caption of his latest update. “And hope all of your dreams come true. I’m in awe of your compassion to create positive change in the world…”
Somerhalder’s emotional message was penned days after the actor posted a shirtless selfie with his bikini-clad wife from their honeymoon in Costa Rica. In the headline-making Instagram post, Somerhalder again gushed about Reed for making him so happy.
“Thank you to this beautiful woman who makes every day a dream come true,” he captioned the vacation pic. “Pura Vida.”
After a whirlwind nine-month romance, Somerhalder and Reed tied the knot in a rustic sunset ceremony last month at the Tuscali Mountain Inn in Topanga, Calif. Guests included his CW costars Kat Graham, Paul Wesley, Matt Davis, and Phoebe Tonkin. This is the first marriage for the groom and the second for Reed, who split from her ex Paul McDonald in March 2014.
The TVD cast said goodbye to long-standing lead actress Nina Dobrev last week, sending her off with a surprise (and rather messy!) caking.
