Jared Leto has broken his silence after a recent BBC investigation accused the Oscar winner of sexual misconduct.
“I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life,” Leto, 54, said in a statement shared with Us Wednesday, July 29. “These claims are absolutely and categorically false.”
Several hours earlier, four women accused Leto of sexual assault and criminal sexual misconduct in a new bombshell BBC documentary, Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret. One of the alleged victims claimed that she was assaulted by Leto in a “dingy, gross motel” in 2002 when she was 17 and the actor was in his 30s.
“I don’t think there [were] many words exchanged, and he opened the shower curtain and started kissing me,” the woman, who was identified as Isabel in the documentary, alleged to the BBC.
A second alleged victim claimed that Leto threatened her with sexual assault when she was 19, with another anonymous individual accusing the Thirty Seconds to Mars musician of raping her when she was 17 and legally a minor in the state of California.
Another woman, who was 14 at the time of her alleged interaction with Leto, accused the Dallas Buyers Club actor of making a lewd comment about her chest while signing her T-shirt at a 2005 music festival.
BBC further reported that nine of the 10 women interviewed in the doc were allegedly “sharing their stories publicly for the first time.”
Leto was previously accused of sexual misconduct in a lengthy AirMail éxposé published in June 2025, in which multiple anonymous alleged victims claimed he acted inappropriately with younger women for many years.
“I don’t know if he was on drugs or what,” one individual claimed of a phone call that she allegedly received from Leto. “It was the weirdest, grossest voice, [but] for me, it’s Jared, you know? Always at one, two, three a.m. The conversations turned sexual. He’d ask things like, ‘Have you ever had a boyfriend? Have you ever sucked a d***?’”
The woman added, “He changed — his voice, the way he talked. It scared me. That was the first time I thought, ‘Oh my God, that’s not just in movies.’”
Model Laura La Rue also claimed to the outlet at the time that she had a similar encounter with Leto in 2008 when she was 16. La Rue alleged that Leto often texted her to visit his house.
“I remember him teasing me the whole time I was there,” La Rue claimed to AirMail, noting that she accepted Leto’s alleged offer. “He was flirting with me. He’d lean in close, then pull away, like it was a game.”
Leto vehemently denied the accusations at the time with his rep further shutting down claims that the star sent “sexual or inappropriate” messages to the women interviewed by AirMail.
