Jen Hamilton is embracing her freedom as she celebrates her 36th birthday amid her divorce from ex Brian Hamilton.
“This summer, I DREADED my birthday,” the influencer wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, August 19, alongside a photo of herself holding up a small cake with rainbow-colored “36” candles and a “happy birthday” topper.
“It would be my first birthday single,” Jen continued. “I was afraid of how sad I would be. How much my trauma would ruin the day. But … I never thought I would be able to feel this free. My whole life is ahead of me, and I feel like I’ve been reborn. Like hitting the reset button. It’s only up from here, babes. 😘.”
Jen’s celebration comes two months after the content creator confirmed her separation from estranged husband Brian after 14 years of marriage.
“Yes, we are separating,” Jen said in a video in June, reading her and Brian’s shared statement. “This comes with enormous pain for the both of us but also gratitude for the 15 years of shared history, love, and friendship. What we are committed to is loving each other well through this transition and placing the wellbeing of the family we created at the center.”
Jen and Brian, who share two sons, continued, “We are hoping our paths diverging in physical location will make space and room for mental healing for the other. We still are committed to being a team. We even wrote this together (and without chatgpt). We both want to be very clear. This wasn’t about falling out of love. That’s why this is so devastating. It was about recognizing that sometimes the most loving thing you can do is give someone space to figure out complex things. And that’s exactly what we are doing.”
Jen later accused Brian of living a “double life with a woman who was 56 years old.” (Brian has not responded to the claims.)
“The thing is, I know some stuff, but, girl, I guarantee you I don’t know everything. And the stuff I do know, I’m embarrassed about,” she said in a video in late July.
On August 4, the Birth Vibes author marked what would have been her 14th wedding anniversary with a “Jendependence Day” party.
“August 4 was going to be a really hard day for me. It was going to be my 14th wedding anniversary. The first one after finding out about my husband’s diabolical betrayal,” she wrote via Instagram on August 8. “So I threw a party for all my work friends. So many people showed up! They loved on me so hard and I told them EVERYTHING.”
She continued, “I burned the bedsheets which held years of my own personal repression and the lies he told. He cannot hurt me anymore. Boooo to cheating on your loving and faithful wife with a grandma. No offense to grandmas. She just is one.”
Jen concluded that she is “getting to the point now that I’m grateful for what this has brought me.”
“Because now I get to create my own future instead of living in the knowing that things would never get better for me,” she wrote. “I’m so grateful for my friends. And for that night. Happy Jendependence to me.”
