Someone very special is coming to town! Jenna Dewan Tatum sported a Santa Claus suit while gifting rescue puppies.
The 37-year-old actress spent time with the pooches on Wednesday, December 20, at LA’s Bark N Bitches, a humane pet store that also functions as an adoption center. Dewan Tatum documented her day via a heartfelt video posted to her YouTube channel and encouraged fans to adopt this holiday season.
“They get all of these animals from a shelter and they bring them here to do their very best help finding an incredible home,” Dewan said in the clip of Bark N Bitches, noting that this cause is dear to her heart as she and husband Channing Tatum share two rescue dogs, Meeka and Lulu. “I have two shelter dogs at home and I want to do everything I can to get the word out about how wonderful it is to #AdoptDontShop.”
The video then showcased Dewan Tatum distributing Christmas gifts to the canines, including new bones, ropes and more chewy toys. “If you are not able to adopt this holiday season, there are so many things you can do,” she explained. “You can volunteer, you can volunteer your time, your money, you can take them on walks. I do that a lot with [my daughter] Everly and she loves it. And just find these incredible places an support them in anyway you can.”
The Step Up star also included important statistics about animal adoption and homelessness in America. She explained that 6.5 million animals enter shelters every year, homeless animals outnumber homeless people five to one, approximately 1.5 million dogs are euthanized each year and only one of every 10 shelter dogs find permanent homes.
“Merry Christmas, happy holidays … Hope you have a beautiful holiday, sending you love,” she said at the end of the video before blowing a kiss to viewers. “And please remember, adopt, don’t shop.”
