Jennie Garth is on the warpath.
In the wake of her March split with husband of 11 years Peter Facinelli, the bitter 40-year-old actress has been blabbing about their breakup in the press. "I wish he had wanted to try harder," she told one magazine.
According to insiders, Facinelli, 48, did fight to save their marriage — despite what Garth wants people to believe. "He loved being a family man," one insider tells the new issue of Us Weekly (on stands Friday). "It was not an easy decision, but they reached an impasse."
(Two weeks after announcing their split, Facinelli filed for divorce on March 28; he listed their official separation as January 1, 2012.)
One major issue in their marriage: Facinelli's increasing fame (thanks to the Twilight films and hit TV show Nurse Jackie) irked Garth, who stars on an upcoming CMT reality show. "Her career hit a standstill, and she became resentful," the source says.
Facinelli — father to daughters Luca, 14, Lola, 9, and Fiona, 5 — is trying to ignore his estranged wife's war of words and her loopy behavior. (On The Tonight Show With Jay Leno April 5, Garth stuttered and seemed nervous while discussing the split; Facnielli was dining at NYC's Lexington Brass when the episode aired.)
"Peter is keeping his head down in regard to anything Jennie says," the source tells Us. "He doesn't want to push the situation."
